How we met…

2022

We are both in recovery, and we were both working as behavioral health technicians at an addiction treatment center. Shortly after Kevin got hired, we worked our first shift together. Within a week from that we started hanging out and haven’t left each other’s side since! We just clicked, and we just knew. The first time we hung out we just sat and talked for 9 hours with zero awkward moments. We weren’t sure what it was, but we knew it was something. Fast forward to now, we both still work together at the same treatment center but we have both since been promoted to case managers. He proposed at work, near the same spot he first saw me…

The Proposal…

October 25, 2023

It was perfect! All of our coworkers helped make it happen! Cassandra had no clue what was happening and was completely surprised. Our director sent an email out in the morning about a mandatory staff picture in the lobby at 3:00PM sharp! Cassandra was not picture ready that day so was thinking of ways to get out of it. Kevin even sent Cassandra text messages expressing his annoyance with it too. Cassandra was in a meeting about a client at around 2:30PM, the meeting was going and didn’t seem like it was going to end in time for this mandatory picture, this was good news! At 2:55PM a coworker in the meeting said “oh shoot it’s 2:55 we need to get down there”. So, we went for the picture and every coworker that was working that day was there for the picture. Everyone except Kevin. Cassandra was super annoyed thinking “you’re literally the last person we are waiting on like can you come on so we can get this over with”. We were starting to pose for the picture and Cassandra was trying to place herself in the back but ended up in the front. Kevin walks in the lobby with flowers, roses and sunflowers. Cassandra thought he was just being a dork because we do have flower arrangements around for the clients to make, so it wasn’t out of the ordinary to have flowers readily available. But then, our coworker started playing our song, “Thank God” by Kane Brown and that’s when it clicked with Cassandra what was happening. Of course, Cassandra said Yes! And here we are!
